Born on 5th November 1970, Tamzin Outhwaite is a British actress who grew up in Ilford, Essex. Since a young age, she was interested in acting. Her teenage years were spent attending the Stagestruck Theatre Company. There she took part in various productions. Along with her school, she enrolled at Sylvia Young Theatre School on a part-time basis. Later in 1987, Tamzin Outhwaite studied drama and dance at the London Studio Centre.
Once she was done with her education, Tamzin Outhwaite started taking roles in theatre productions like Oliver! and Grease. She soon bagged a substantial role in two television series named The Bill and Men Behaving Badly. In 1999, she was cast in the BBC soap opera called EastEnders, which was quite famous. Her character on the show, Mel Healy, helped her achieve fame on a national level. She left the show in the year 2006, but when asked she did say she would return to the show if required.
After leaving EastEnders, she was seen in the revival of Boeing Boeing, which was played at the Comedy Theatre. She also did a movie called Cassandra’s Dream and was part of ITV’s drama series The Fixer. In 2008, she won a charity gameshow named All Star Mr & Mrs with her then husband.
She played the central character in Paradox, which was a sci-fi crime series. Along with working on films, she appeared as a judge in the reality show Don’t Stop Believing. She was part of a comedy series called New Tricks. Theatre has always been part of her career, and she has gone back to it time and again. She also did introductory segments of true crime episodes called Dateline. Her character in EastEnders was revived in 2018, and she continues to play Mel Healy.
