Kelendria Trene Rowland, also known by her stage name Kelly Rowland, was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Growing up, Rowland already showed her love for singing at age 4. Aside from joining the church choir, the hit songs of Whitney Houston were her greatest inspiration.
When her family moved to Texas, she met Beyoncé Knowles, who later became her good friend. Later on, the two girls performed in various music shows as members of the band named Girl’s Tyme.
In 1992, she founded the R&B all-female singing group Destiny’s Child along with Beyoncé Knowles, LeToya Luckett-Walker, and LaTavia Roberson. Destiny’s Child successfully won several Grammy Awards and sold millions of records, apart from the group’s several lineup changes.
After the incredible success of their hit albums, the group decided to take a break. Rowland decided to make a solo career for herself by producing her first album in 2002. Although Destiny’s Child reunited for the making of their fourth album, Rowland officially announced the group’s break-up in 2005.
Kelly began to work on her solo activities by writing most of her tracks in her record albums. She also worked with artists such as Nelly, David Guetta, Ne-Yo, Lil Wayne, among others. Throughout her solo career, Kelly sold over 40 million records.
Alongside her music, Kelly took on several film and television projects. She appeared as the judge at the music competition X Factor. Right after her judging stint, Rowland launched a reality talent search Chasing Destiny. She later resumed her duties as a talent coach in The Voice Australia in 2017.
Overall, Rowland earned awards and nominations in her entire music career, including the Grammy, Billboard, and Soul Train Music Awards.
Following the success of her solo career, Rowland married her manager Tim Weatherspoon. She now has a five-year-old son named Titan Jewell Weatherspoon.
Although Kelly is nearing her forties, the pop star artist manages to maintain a fit body by embracing a healthy lifestyle. With her love for fashion and fitness, Kelly released a sportswear collection with Fabletics. As seen on her social media accounts, Rowland confidently promotes her fitness classes. She even confidently revealed that she lost a lot of pounds after her pregnancy.
