Génesis Rodríguez Pérez was born in 1987 in Miami, USA. She came from a family of performers with Cuban and Venezuelan heritage. Her father, José Luis Rodríguez, is an actor and singer, while her mother, Luisa Carolina Pérez Rodriguez, is a model.
As a young girl, Rodriguez showed off her talent by starring in school productions, attending acting classes, and vocal studies. When her parents saw her determination, they signed her up at a theater and film institute.
Rodriguez began her entertainment career at seven years old. She appeared as a dancer in the Spanish children’s program, El Club de Los Tigritos.
In 2004, Rodriguez starred in Spanish-language telenovelas. She played a co-lead role as Libertad Santos in the hit series Prisionera. The TV show went on air in 16 countries all over the globe.
Three years later, Rodriguez landed on her first lead role in two other telenovelas, Dame Chocolate and Doña Bárbara. Before launching her career in American TV, Rodriguez got a recurring role in the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives as Becky Ferrer.
In 2010, Rodriguez began her career on American TV. She first starred in the comedy-drama series Entourage for three episodes. Since then, Rodriguez appeared as a guest star in talk shows, such as Made in Hollywood, The Screen Junkies Show, and Reel Junkie.
Rodriguez landed on her big break in the sci-fi series Time After Time. She played the role of a museum staff named Jane Walker. Several TV shows followed, where she appeared as one of the main casts.
Aside from her TV appearances, Rodriguez got her film debut in the action-thriller film, Man on a Ledge. She also appeared in other films such as What to Expect When You’re Expecting, Run All Night, and Delirium.
