Born as Cheree Crowley on 6 May, 1988, she is a New Zealand professional wrestler of Samoan and Irish origins. She is presently signed to WWE and performs on NXT under the ring name of Dakota Kai. Previously she used the ring name Evie and wrestled for Impact Pro Wrestling, Shimmer Women Athletes, Shine Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Women’s Alliance.

Evie debuted as a professional wrestler in December 2007 for an Auckland based company named Impact Pro Wrestling.

In September 2011, she made her debut in Sydney, Australia based Pro Wrestling Alliance Australia (PWA Australia) for their annual PWWA show where she defeated Kellie Skater. In August 2012, Evie became the first Impact Pro Wrestling NZ Women’s Champion, beating Britenay and Megan Fox in a triple threat match.

Evie debuted for the all-girls American promotion Shimmer Women Athletes at Volume 53 on 6 April 2013, where she participated in a five-way match that she lost to Christina Von Ferie and also featured Yuu Yamagata, Kalamity and Rhia O’Reilly.

On 6 December 2015, Evie debuted for the Japanese World Wonder Ring Stardom promotion.

Crowley made an appearance on the 14 October 2015 episode of NXT under the ring name of Evie, and lost to a debutant named Nia Jax. On 15 December 2016, she signed a contract with WWE and after a few months she was announced as a participant in the upcoming Mae Young Classic under the ring name of Dakota Kai. She entered the tournament on July 13 2017 beating Kavita Devi in the first round and Rhea Ripley in the second, before losing to Kairi Sane in the quarterfinals.

Daktoa Kai posted on her Twitter page on 17 January 2019 about sustaining a torn anterior cruciate ligament during a NXT live event in December 2018 and mentioned that she will be out of in-ring action for the next few months.
