Hayek is a Mexican and American actress and former model. Her career started in Mexico as an actress in the telenovela Teresa. In 1991, Hayek moved to Hollywood and rose to fame with roles in movies such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), Dogma (1999), and Wild Wild West (1999). Her most critically acclaimed role was portraying Mexican painter Frida Kahlo in the movie Frida (2002). For that role, Selma was nominated for Best Actress for an Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and Golden Globe Award. She also guest-starred on the NBC comedy series 30 Rock and appeared in other films such as Grown Ups (2010), Puss in Boots (2011), Grown Ups 2 (2013), and Tale of Tales (2015).
