Alyssa Sutherland grew up in Brisbane, Australia. At a young age, Sutherland developed a love for modeling. She had big dreams of walking the runway and gracing the pages of fashion magazines.
In 1997, Sutherland entered the modeling industry. She was 15 years old at that time. She joined the annual model search of cosmetic brand Bonne Belle for Australian teen magazine, Girlfriend. With her lean frame and good looks, Sutherland impressed the judges and won the contest.
After her win, Sutherland signed up for a contract with fashion magazine Vogue Australia. The young model made it on multiple Vogue covers.
With her thriving modeling career in Australia, Sutherland moved to New York and explored modeling of several fashion campaigns. Soon after, she began working with high-end brands, such as Chanel, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, and Bulgari. She also appeared for product campaigns, including Kerastase and Garnier.
Apart from her runway experience, Sutherland graced the magazine covers of Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Marie-Claire, and Elle. She also appeared for an extensive editorial shoot with fashion magazines from all over the world.
Sutherland got the opportunity to work with the world’s famous fashion photographers, like Steven Meisel, Bruce Weber, Herb Ritts, and Ellen von Unwerth.
In 2007, Sutherland joined a campaign for the chocolate brand, Cadbury as their newest Flake Girl model. The commercial showed her munching a Flake bar while riding a convertible in a rain shower. She is one of Cadbury’s actors to join the campaign, “Keep Cadbury British” in response to selling Cadbury to a non-British client.
