Mia Wasikowska, born 25 October 1989, is an Australian actress. Mia Wasikowska was born and raised in Canberra, Australia. Mia Wasikowska is the daughter of amazing photographers, Marzena Wasikowska and John Reid. While Mia Wasikowska’s mother is a Polish, her father is an Australian of British ancestry.
Mia Wasikowska took ballet classes when she was 9 and dreamt of becoming a professional ballerina.
However, destiny had something else in store for her. While learning ballet, she injured herself, which prevented her from pursuing ballet while she was 14. Mia Wasikowska was always excited with European and Australian cinema, and soon Mia Wasikowska turned to acting. Mia Wasikowska’s interest and passion towards acting made her leave Canberra High School, where she was studying, to choose acting as her career.
Mia Wasikowska started her screen debut with All Saints, an Australian television drama, in 2004, post which she featured in her debut film, Suburban Mayhem in 2006. In 2010, she made a breakthrough with Alice in Wonderland, where she was cast as Alice.
Mia Wasikowska was known to the audience with her spectacular performance in Treatment, an HBO television series. In 2009, Mia Wasikowska was nominated for the Independent Spirit for Best Supporting Female for The Evening Sun, where she played the role of Pamela Choat. Mia Wasikowska received the Hollywood Awards Breakthrough Actress Award for the comedy-drama film, The Kids Are All Right in 2010. Mia Wasikowska also starred in Guillermo del Toro film, Crimson Peak in 2015. Mia Wasikowska reprised the role of Alice in Alice Through the Looking Glass post which she appeared in a number of films.
Mia Wasikowska is also an avid photographer and loves capturing images during her travels and sets while on shoot with her Rolleiflex camera. While shooting for Jane Eyre, Mia Wasikowska carried a small digital camera in her costumes to capture photographs during her free time. One such photo, featuring Fukunaga and Jane Eyre co-star Jamie Bell was selected as a finalist in the 2011 National Photographic Portrait Prize conducted by Australia’s National Portrait Gallery on 24 February 2011.
Mia Wasikowska dated her co-star from The Double, Jesse Eisenberg from 2013 to 2015.
Mia Wasikowska was last seen in Judy and Punch, 2019, where she played the character of Judy. Her upcoming projects are Blackbird, Bergman Island, where she will be seen as Amy, whose dates are yet to be announced and The Devil All The Time where she is portraying Helen Hatton which is currently filming in theatres.
