Born on 30 December 1977, Lucy Punch is an English actress. She appeared in films like Ella Enchanted, Hot Fuzz, Bad Teacher, You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, Dinner for Schmucks and Into the Woods. She is also famous for playing the role of Wendy in Stand Up Guys and Esme Squalor in A Series Of Unfortunate Events.
Punch was born in Hammersmith to Johanna and Michael Punch, who ran a market research company. She studied at Godolphin and Latymer School, Hammersmith, London. She used to perform with the National Youth Theatre from 1993 to 1997, and started a course at University College London, before she dropped out to pursue an acting career.
In the year 2000, Punch featured in the film Greenfingers. She debuted on stage as Elaine in a Terry Johnson, West End version of The Graduate. She has also worked at the Royal Court and Bush Theatres in London.
In the year 2004, Punch appeared as receptionist Elaine Denham on Doc Martin. She left the TV show The Class after being seen in 11 of the first 12 episodes. In 2006, she received the Best Actress Award at the Monaco International Film Festival for Are You Ready For Love? She appeared as murder victim and actress Eve Draper in Hot Fuzz (2007). Punch also starred in a 2010 Woody Allen movie You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger. In August 2010, she appeared in BBC Two’s three part police comedy-drama Vexed. In the year 2011, Punch was seen in Bad Teacher where she played the role of school teacher Amy Squirrel. In 2017, Punch was cast as Esme Squalor on the season two of the Netflix comedy drama show A Series Of Unfortunate Events, a role that she played in the third and final season too.
Punch is a resident of West Hollywood, California. She gave birth to her first child, a son in July 2015.
