Born on 24 September 1985, Kimberley Nixon is a Welsh actress. Nixon is best known for her character of Sophy Hutton in the BBC One period drama Cranford and a number of films like Wild Child and Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. Later on, she starred as Josie Jones in a Channel 4 comedy drama titled Fresh Meat and as Sarah Pearson in BBC Two comedy Hebburn.
She was born in Bristol to Welsh parents. Nixon along with her six brothers were raised at Pontypridd, Wales where she attended Coedylan Comprehensive School (now Pontypridd High School).
After her high school, Nixon received training at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff alongside Tom Cullen and Aneurin Barnard. Before she graduated in 2007, she signed to Universal Studios after appearing in a college production of The Comedy of Errors. She is also a former member of the National Youth Theatre of Wales.
Her acting career started in autumn 2007 with an appearance in the BBC One costume drama series Cranford opposite Dame Judi Dench. In the year 2008, she played supporting roles in films Wild Child, and Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. In the year 2012, Nixon played a starring role in the film Offender, a thriller revolving around a guy who sets up his own imprisonment to avenge the assault on his girlfriend. She also had leading roles in the ITV drama show “Kidnap and Ransom” and a BBC Two comedy-drama series Hebburn alongside Chris Ramsey and Vic Reeves. The sitcom is written by stand up comedian Jason Cook, and is about his experiences of growing up in north-east of England.
Nixon starred in a medical drama Critical with Lennie James, Emma Fryer and Paul Bazely that premiered on Sky 1 on 24 February 2015. She was also seen in a Welsh thriller titled Kingdom of Rain with Julian Lewis Jones and Robert Kazinsky.
