Born as Kaila Methven on September 3rd 1991, she is an American fashion designer and a current CEO/designer of the Madame Methven lingerie brand. Kaila was born in Santa Monica, California. She was raised by her mother, Lisa Methven in Beverly Hills until she was 14-years-old. After her mother died, she relocated to Paris to live with her father. She first became interested in fashion when she interned as a makeup assistant at a Dior fashion show in Paris at the age of 16. She then decided to follow a career in Fashion Design at Esmod Paris.
After she completed her Bachelor’s degree, she further studied at International Fashion Academy (IFA), where she obtained a Master’s degree and also her MBA. Subsequently she travelled to China and Italy and attended Polymoda to complete her MBA in Luxury Brand Management. After her graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to start her own lingerie line. She got her first atelier in Downtown Los Angeles at the Fashion District when she was 22. A small team worked with her when she released her debut collection, Latrodectus at OC Fashion Week. She later debuted her collection at LA Fashion Week. She unveiled three lines to the Madame Methven brand: Mademoiselle, Made to Adore and LBKM. Since her debut at the LA Fashion Week debut, she has been featured in numerous magazines such as the covers of Femme Rebelle, Ellementes, LA Fashion Magazine, Maxim South Africa and also featured in Contrasts, Runway, Basic, Most, Fab UK, Maxim US, Marie Claire Italy, Business Insider, and the sun. She received two Best International Designer of the year awards, Haute Couture Lingerie and Haute couture Pret A Porter. Kaila’s designs have been worn by various celebrities, such as the Oscar winner Apollonia Kotera, Kitty Brucknell of X factor UK, and cast members of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She supports the LGBT Youth Center, Monday Spiritual offering Meal, the Laundry Love, and the Food Pantry at the Islamic Center in Los Angeles. Her maternal grandfather, Stanley Methven started in 1960 a company that became RCL Foods in South Africa, which in the 1980s acquired Kentucky Fried Chicken.
