Jessica McNamee grew up in Australia. She came from a family of performers, with her younger sister Penny McNamee and niece Teagan Croft.
As a young girl, McNamee performed in local stage productions with her siblings. During her high school senior year, she decided to start a professional acting career in her drama classes.
McNamee began her entertainment debut on Australian TV. In 2007, she starred in the soap opera series Home and Away as Lisa Duffy. She also appeared in the family show Packed to the Rafters.
The role of McNamee in her previous TV shows created a “good girl” image of the actress among its viewers. In her succeeding projects, McNamee decided to take on more diversified roles on screen.
In 2009, McNamee competed in the celebrity competition Dancing with the Stars season 9, where she partnered with Stefano Olivieri. She also appeared in the horror-thriller film The Loved Ones.
