Daisy Fuentes is a popular TV host and actress. She rose to fame as the host of MTV music show. Named as one of the “50 Most Beautiful Women” by People en Español, Fuentes is undoubtedly sexy.
Daisy Fuentes was born in 1966 in Havana, Cuba. She is a mixture of Cuban and Spanish descent. Fuentes trained herself to speak English by watching an English-language sitcom.
In high school, Fuentes’ classmates admired her beauty. Her classmates voted her as the “best looking” and homecoming queen.
During her senior year, Fuentes began her modeling career. She also signed up at a cosmetology school with the hope of becoming a hairstylist with a salon of her own. She later studied at Bergen Community College and majored in communications.
While studying, the Spanish TV Network Telemundo hired her as a weather reporter at WNJU-TV-47. Soon after, Fuentes landed a position at a TV network not only as a weather anchor but also as an evening newscaster.
Aside from weather reporting, Fuentes hosted the music show MTV Internacional. The show led to her fame as it aired around the U.S. and Latin America. In 1993, she joined MTV and became the first Latina VJ.
While hosting shows for MTV, Fuentes took on more projects, including the fashion series, House of Style. At that point, Fuentes has established a name for herself as one of MTV’s popular hosts.
Soon, Fuentes began appearing for small-screen roles in dramas and sitcoms. She appeared in the soap opera Loving and sitcoms like Cybill and The Larry Sanders Show. In 1994, Fuentes got her big break by hosting her talk show, Daisy.
In the late 90s, Fuentes ventured on hosting award ceremonies and beauty pageants. She hosted the Billboard Latin Awards, World Music Awards, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, and Miss Universe.
Her popularity as a media personality became her ticket to become a product promoter and a magazine cover girl. She appeared in the TV ads of American Express, Pantene, M&M’s, and Revlon, among others. She also joined health causes for women as the Mind, Body, Spirit Superstar.
Apart from hosting, Fuentes is also an active entrepreneur. She started her first clothing line in 2004 and launched Daisy Fuentes Style Pro, an all-natural hair care product line. She also teamed up with Kohl department store for her exclusive brand of accessories, fragrances, sunglasses, and clothing.
Fuentes is also a volunteer. She supports causes such as breast cancer research and women’s health.
