Born as Bojana Novakovic on 12 July 1981, she is a Serbian Australian actress who can be currently seen in the American TV series Instinct with Alan Cumming. Novakovic was born in Belgrade, SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia to Serbian parents. She was seven years old when she moved to Australia in the year 1988. She was initially keen to become a social worker or a doctor, but, later changed her mind and decided to opt for performing arts. Novakovic studied at The McDonald College in Sydney and graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) with a bachelor’s degree in dramatic arts in the year 2002. Her younger sister Valentina is also an actress famous for playing the role of Natasha Williams in a Australian soap opera Neighbours.
In the year 2003, Novakovic played the role of Randa in the ABC mini-series Marking Time, a role that won her an AFI Award for “Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Television Drama or Comedy.” As an actress, Novakovic’s film credits in Australia include Blackrock (1996), Strange Fits of Passion (1998), The Monkey’s Mask (1999), Thunderstruck (2004), Solo (2005) and the Serbian films Optimisti (2005) and Skinning (2010).From 2007 to 2009, she had played the role of Tippi in television series Satisfaction for Showtime Australia. Her other roles include Drag Me To Hell (2009), Edge of Darkness (2009), Devil (2010), and Burning Man (2011).
Novakovic is famous for her roles in movies like Devil (2010) and The Little Death (2014). She co-starred alongside Keanu Reeves and Adelaide Clemens in the drama Generation Um.. and with Mel Gibson in the thriller Edge of Darkness. She also appeared in the U.S. adaptation of TV series Shameless as Bianca. She starred in a science fiction film Beyond Skyline which was a sequel to Skyline.
