Don’t miss out on the fun, join in and play with your kids.

My kids watched TV as soon as they could sit up and they’re still sweet, sane, emotionally well-adjusted little human beings in spite of it. So, I would totally let a new baby watch TV, too. But this time around, I’d be on the floor, eating banana chips and watching the Wiggles with them (or whatever the cool babies are into these days) because kiddie TV, when someone is interacting with you while watching it, can be really fun.

I’d also play hide and seek (and not just so I can sneak away to the bathroom to read 50 Shades of Grey while my kids think I’m looking for them). I’d do puzzles, and color, and hold tea parties with actual liquid in the pot. On rainy days, we’d play board games because, hey, I’m over 40 and my brain needs the memory boost, too. As for sunny days, let’s just say my baby and I would make it our mission to make playing outside sexy again!

The point here is: childhood is fun and I want in on that

Savor The Siesta

Forget getting it all done. Pause and chill out with your child.

With all that playing, I’ll probably get tired. And since they might, too, why not teach my baby to be a masterful napper? I mean, I used to be really good at it … when I was a toddler, and a teen, and then a wild, partying 20-something. But once I became a young mom, suddenly nap time became extra productivity time. I forgot how amazing and luxurious those snoozefests can be. So, instead of being the mama master of “getting sh*t done”, this time I’d be gifted at power napping with my baby. That way, we’d both be more rested, happy and raring to go when we’re awake!

Forgo the Gadgets –

High-tech gadgets are cool but cardboard boxes will always be a childhood classic.

My kids have owned every frickin’ device, toy, game, fad, tool, widget, and backscratcher thingy out there. But, if I did this parenting thing all over, the first order of business would be streamlining. The new baby would have an empty box, a sock, some pots and a wooden spoon. And I swear the little one would be twice as happy and ten times as creative. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a girl who loves gadgets but in all honesty, I think I’d actually like to be one of those DIY moms who makes her own baby food, games and soap, and just simplify those infant/toddler years. Besides, kids lose interest in that gadget crap after about 2 minutes anyway. No baby loses interest in pots & pans drums … ever! Photo:

Lighten Up

Why so serious, Mom? Smile and giggle some more.

As a young mom, I spent a lot of time constantly correcting and nit-picking my little ones while sharing very important life lessons in moments when they were just being kids. Now that I’m older, I’ve mellowed out and I realize laughing my butt off at their messy, ridiculous, silly antics actually teaches them way more than my so-called wisdom and seriousness ever did. The lesson I’d try to teach them now: life is meant to be enjoyed and messes and mistakes happen. “You filled the bathtub with silly string? What a jokester!” “What? You shaved the dog? You crack me up!” Kid antics are funny. I’ve learned to laugh at them now that I’m over 40, otherwise I’d have a

Say, “Screw You, Science”

Science has its place but Mommy Instincts should be trusted, too.

As most nervous young mamas do, I read every new baby-related scientific study out there. I knew exactly what babies and their bodies should be doing at every hour of gestation and growth and I Googled every noise, rash, delay, ingrown hair and multi-colored poop. As a result, I was a raving lunatic.

Well, not this time around! Today, I’d skip the baby-rearing stats and listen to my friends, family and, most importantly, to my own gut, instead. Pretty much every one of those damned studies was a bunch of bull anyway, and the only techniques that worked consistently for me came from “old wives” mothering advice or from my very own instincts. So, shoo, lab rats! This time, mama’s got it under control. Photo:

Bless that Mess

Nothing ever stays in perfect order anyway, so strive for “contained chaos” instead.

First diaper changes. Pee fountains in the bathtub. Strained carrots mashed into newly sprouted hair (and the carpet, and, sigh, the cat). Fingerprints on the windows. Drool on my Kate Spade dress. Getting bitten by a brand new tooth. Pages torn out of picture books. Hugs that begin as head-butts to the groin. Dropping the toy, picking it up (dropping the toy, picking it up. Dropping the toy … well, you know how that game goes). If hindsight has taught me anything as a parent, it’s that every single, irritating, exhausting, messy little bit of childhood is precious. And if I ever did it again, I simply wouldn’t stress over it so much, or complain about it, or grumble under my breath. I’d try to truly appreciate that those messy moments don’t last. I’d plug in, and with wine glass in hand, embrace the kiddie chaos and enjoy it. Photo:

Give More Time Outs

You can’t give energy you don’t have, mom. Take time for you!

No, no, not to the baby. As a later-in-life mom, I would definitely give myself more “time outs” for fun time with adult friends and, more importantly, with my husband (wink. wink.). The first time around, I abandoned fun in my adult life to become the responsible, all-attention-on-kids-and-career women I thought I should be. I’m not saying my house would turn into a dump or that I’d neglect my kids, but now that my boys have grown, I’m glad to have a social life (and sex life) again. I’m a happier person when I create space to stop being mom for a minute and remember what it’s like to just authentically be me.

Share The Love

Let go of control. Letting others help watch the kids means you get a break.

With my first kiddos, I admit it: I was the most selfish, overprotective baby hoarder. A bazillion people offered at any time to help out and take my baby for me. But I didn’t want my babies to be taken or anyone else trying to undermine me. So, I kept them all to myself and as a result, my husband and I didn’t enjoy an adult vacation until my youngest was 3-years old and completely attached to me (cue the toddler tears!).

Well, not this time, mister! No way. In middle age, I’ve learned to ask for what I need and appreciate help when it’s offered. If “it takes a village” to raise a child, my new child would know that loving village. Which means, I’ve finally learned to share!

Forget Perfection

Perfection is exhausting. Great parenting is about just being real.

The first time around, my babies (and our life) always had to look PERFECT! Perfect little man sweaters, perfect baby Nikes, perfect little haircuts, perfectly clean house with perfectly organized toys. Yep, we were living a Pinterest-worthy life perhaps, but keeping up with that ideal image was exhausting and my babies hated it.

This time around, I’d say to hell with perfection. It’s overrated and annoys others anyway. This new baby would be perfect “as is”. Whatever flows, goes. No more pressed Baby Gap ensembles with matching leather jackets. If the new kiddo is comfortable in a spiderman costume and a purple tutu, whatevs.

The scarves are lovely fashion accessories. They can keep you warm during the cold winter days or just complement your outfit. If you love playing with scarves then you’ll know that you can’t have “too much” of them. It’s time to recycle some old clothes and make a new fashionable accessory for your lovely neck. These DIY scarves ideas are really easy and you can ever skip sewing.

1. DIY scarves from an old sweater

You can also sew decorative buttons and zipper to jazz it up a bit.

2. Old T-shirt scarf

T-Shirts are often made from a soft stretchy material. That’s why they are perfect for a project like this. You can braid some of the scraps and decorate with a brooch or a leather on one side.

4. Scrap scarf

You don’t have to buy the fabric for this scarf, just use old clothes. Cut from the fabric lots of identical circles measuring approximately 10 x 10 cm and sew them together.

5. Lace scarf accents

The lace is back! Include it as an element in your next scarf project.

6. Bleached scarf – Get creative with the bleaching pen

Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger have taken their love to the Miami heat! After their wild night clubbing on Wednesday, during which Miley donned a pasties and a silver wig, the new duo was seen poolside at a Miami hotel on Thursday afternoon. She works hard, she loves harder. Make it your business to make her relax every once in a while..

There’s nothing sexier to an educated woman than a mentally stimulating conversation with her man…

There was a day when men put forth effort. Let’s bring those back.

In any long term relationship, there will be times when practicality trumps all. You got work, school, or whatever the next morning. Fine. But make sure you break that routine with some after-sex, dope conversation as well.

That may be a little deep for you, but understand, your woman will have some insecurities. As men, so do we. But when she’s feeling her worst, it’s your job to show her she’s still the best thing that ever happened to you.

Print this and tape it to your fridge. Now for a real woman, money isn’t NEEDED. But as her man, it should make you feel good to provide. Even if she provides for herself, still, let that be a little gift on a day she’ll have nothing else to do but sit and wait for you to get off. Send her to the nearest spa and shopping mall. Your treat.

You get to watch Beyonce and Julez (Solange’s son) play “Heart and Soul” on the piano and Beyonce sings to her not-yet-born daughter.

She addresses rumors that she used a surrogate mother, saying: “A child, you don’t play around with that.”

Beyonce’s pretty spiritual.

Immediately after she miscarried, Beyonce went to the studio to write “the saddest song she’s ever written.” It hasn’t been released yet.

Beyonce loved being pregnant. A lot: “Being pregnant was very much life falling in love. You are so open, so overjoyed.”

She brought in two boys from Mozambique to perform with her at the 2011 Billboard Awards for “Run The World (Girls).”

She likes to be pissed off before she goes on stage.

She had a miscarriage two years ago. She heard her baby’s heartbeat for the first time and said, “It was the most beautiful music I had ever heard in my life.” She picked out names, too.

She doesn’t think artists release albums as art in 2013, and used Nina Simone as her example of what she aspires to: “I think when Nina Simone put out music, you loved her voice. That’s what she wanted you to love. That was her instrument. But you didn’t get brainwashed by her day to day live, what her child is wearing…It’s not your business. It shouldn’t influence the way you listen to her music, the voice, the art, but it does.”

Beyonce’s a business, man. Example: “Business and being polite don’t match. You can be fair, but me being polite was not me being fair to myself. And now I’m learning how political things are; a lot of the crazy things he [her dad] did was necessary.”

Beyonce goes off on male privilege and feminism when talking about “Girls (Run The World),” and you get to hear her use the word “bullshit.”

She previewed “I Care” for Columbia Records-and the entire conference room gave her a standing ovation.

On knowing herself: “My goal was trusting myself, and my goal was growth. I believe I had to go through my miscarriage, owning my company, managing myself….Ultimately, your independence comes from knowing yourself…”

She rehearsed for the Billboard Awards performance in the hallway of her hotel, and the first time anyone saw the full performance together was when it was live.

At one point, she felt that she was doing too much, and wouldn’t be able to grow as an artist.

She says the battle of her life is figuring out how to stay current and stay soulful.

She thinks about retiring. Often.

If you get HBO, you can now watch an early ultrasound of Blue Ivy Carter on-demand.

She records herself speaking to her computer on the night Blue Ivy kicks for the first time. For the record, she kicked five times.

When she was younger, she felt like she needed her father’s approval. Mathew Knowles never gave it, because he wanted to push her to get better and stronger.

Being independent meant firing her father. She felt as though her soul had been tarnished from it. “It was bigger than the record, it’s bigger than my music.”

She set a goal and fixated on becoming an independent person, artistically and financially.

Beyonce discusses the matter of cathartic sex with Jay-Z: “Stop pretending I have it all together. And if I’m scared, be scared, allow it, release it, move on. I think I need to go listen to “Make Love To Me” [“1+1″] and go make love to my husband.”

What It’s Like To Be Beyonce and Jay-Z: Beyonce and Jay-Z sit on a yacht and listen to Feist, and she talks about feeling overjoyed. Jay also sings a few bars of “Forever Young.”

Beyonce constantly records herself on her laptop.

When 4 was released, she was in Paris with her nephew, Julez, who she brought because he is fluent in French. She also wanted to give him a memory with his father, who lives in Paris.

Beyonce wasn’t crazy about hiding her pregnancy: “I had to hide something that was the best thing in my life.”

On women: “I love my husband, but there’s nothing like a conversation with a woman that understands you. I grow so much from those conversations. I need my sisters.”

Beyonce would perform in her mother’s hair salon when she was younger, and then ask for money.

Blue Ivy is shown on camera in the final scene where Beyonce’s family sits around looking at photos—even her father Mathew is there.

Beyonce really, really, really enjoyed giving birth.

Destiny’s Child heard Survivor debuted at No. 1 while filming the “Bootylicious” video.

On finding herself, and fate: “When you really pay attention, there are certain little clues we get. It’s so crystal clear what the next step is. It’s just this puzzle, and everything is in its right place…We eventually become what we’re supposed to be.”

She dedicated the entire documentary to Blue Ivy Carter and Shawn Carter. And nobody else.

On Jay-Z: “We connected on a spirtual level and he just so happens to be a musician…I pray that Jay and I stay a team…It’s every woman’s dream, to feel this way about someone.”

A home video from Dec. 4, 2006—Jay-Z’s birthday—shows Beyonce making a speech to close family and friends. She says: “I was 20 years-old when we first started dating,” and that he taught her how to be a woman.

Jay-Z and Beyonce sing Coldplay’s “Yellow” to each other. They also change the lyrics to “Jay Jay, I love you so.”

She was pregnant at the Billboard Awards and no one knew.

After her VMA performance of “Love On Top” where she revealed that she was pregnant, she walked off-stage and exclaimed: “We’re all free!”
