Ahead you will find ten great looks that we are recommending for you try. Some are really famous and popular, such as the smokey eyes, and others are less known perhaps (clumpy eyelashes?), but they’re worth the try. If you want to change your routine a bit and try something new – read next!
1. Big Clumpy Eyelashes
When we put our mascara on, we really try not to make our lashes clumpy. So, you may ask then why are we putting this on the list? Here’s why: when done fine, clumpy lashes look chic and can make your eyes appear bigger. This is a trend from the 60’s and 70’s, so we can say for sure that this look is such a retro one. It’s exactly the way former fashion model Twiggy used to wear her lashes, and we admit that it made her eyes look as two big, blue jewels. So, then next time when you try not to make them clumpy, do the opposite.
2. All Things Bronze
The bronze makeup is a perfect way to get a sun – kissed look and if applied right, it can reaally flatter your face by using gold, beige, bronze or similar shades. Use bronze eye shadow to blend it over, while for the cheeks, the forehead, the chin and the temples use a bronzer. You can also use a highlighter for the cheekbones, the forehead and the nose. It’s also preferred to use a similar shade for the lips as well, but here you can experiment with textures, so if you previously used matte or shimmery makeup, now you can use lip gloss. It will give away a summer-ish look.
3. Under Eye Shadow
For some this is too much, but it’s never too late to try out new things! Applying eye shadow or a layer of eye pencil under the eye can make them appear bigger, or at least it can put an accent on your eye color. It’s all about playing with shades and colors, so as pictures, you can apply one color on your eye lid, and another under. Blue and bronze go great together, doesn’t they? Don’t be afraid that you are going to look ridiculous with makeup like this. When done right, it looks very chic!
Unfortunately not all of us were born with cheek bones that we won’t have to contoure, but as many times, makeup is here to save the day. When it comes to contouring, the texture of the makeup is really important and in this case it’s recommended to stick with matte. Another very important thing is the brush. You will need a regular foundation brush and a smaller one for more precise contouring. Of course, if you don’t feel like you need to contour your whole face, stick to one or two places that you would like to have contoured.
5. Shimmery Brown
Brown color and similar shades are mostly suitable for brown and hazel eyes, but it will work just fine with blue as well (Miranda Kerr is the real proof for that!). There is a wide range of eye makeup that you can use, but what we recommend is definitely shimmery brown. It is great for any occasion, from work to parties, and yet it is just a gentle and subtle eye shadow. Combine it with a lipstick or glossy lip and you’re ready to rock your world!
Dolce&Gabbana fashion shows are real vintage inspiration, and the makeup is no exception to this. We see their models having the pin – up makeup and it’s really charming, so when in doubt, always go for this. Cat eyes and bold lipstick is the two very things for the vintage look, so make sure to master applying them. Learn how to apply cat eyes according to your eye shape and this is a really important step because cat eyes have the function of flattering our eyes, so if we apply them the wrong way, it’s highly possible that it won’t look good on us.
7. Bold Makeup
Many women mostly go for neutral, earth tones when applying makeup, but sometimes it’s okay to escape a bit from our routine and try something bolder. Play with colors and textures! If you always used to wearing a matte lipstick, this time try a lip gloss. If you used matte eye shadows in neutral colors, try something shimmery and make it a bold color. Simply experiment, but be careful – make a balance between everything in order to avoid a messy look.
8. The French Look
Ah, the French ladies always have a way to capture our heart. Maybe over the years the classic way French ladies do their makeup became more of a stereotype that we like to nurture, but however that is, we cannot argue over whether it looks nice or not. It simply does. All you have to do to achieve this so – called “French look” is just applying a red lipstick (or other bold color) and maybe a little bit of mascara on your eyes. It’s simple and it gives that effortless, “je ne sais quoi” look.
9. Smokey Eyes
If there is one thing so sure about this makeup technique, is that smokey eyes is the sexiest of them all. Perfect for going outs, the smokey eyes will help you look chic and maybe even more attractive in the eye of some people. It gives a deep look and draws attention to the eyes. Mastering this technique can be tricky the first few times, but as they say – practice makes it perfect. So, next time when you’re going in a club, don’t hesitate to take the time and give your eyes the most beautiful makeup look they can get.
10. The “No Makeup” Makeup
So, what’s the deal with this “no makeup” look? You may wonder if it’s the same if you don’t have any makeup, but the answer is no. But, getting this look is quite easy too. Start with your brows. As you can see on the picture, Victoria’s Secret Angel Taylor Hill has groomed and full brows. If you have thinner, use a pencil to make them appear fuller. When it comes to the skin, you can use a foundation and apply just a bit of highlighter, and you can also apply soft pink or peach blush to the cheeks. Last step is applying mascara just enough to give a bit of a bold lash look and for the lips, use lip gloss or lipstick in neutral colors, such as nude or light pink.
