Alex Jones Must Pay $45.2 Mil In Punitive Damages To Sandy Hook Parents

On Friday, a Texas jury ordered conspiracy theorist Alex Jones to pay the parents of a Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victim $45.2 million in punitive damages, just one day after the jury decided on separate compensatory damages.

“I’ll take it!” declared Scarlett Lewis and Neil Heslin’s attorney when the amount was reached on Friday, according to The New York Times.

According to The Associated Press, Lewis and Heslin, whose son Jesse Lewis was one of nearly two dozen children killed in the massacre, sued Jones’s media business Free Speech Systems and the conspiracy theorist himself for slander.

A jury on Thursday sentenced Jones to pay over $4 million in compensatory damages after he falsely claimed that the 2012 school massacre was a fabrication.

Jones has made misleading assertions regarding the school shooting, including that no children were killed.
