Born as Melissa Jean Archer on December 2, 1979 in Dallas, Texas, she is an American actress famous for playing the role of Natalie Buchanan on One Life to Live, portraying the role from 2001 until the end of the show in 2013. She also played the role of Serena Mason on NBC soap opera, Days of Our Lives from December 5, 2014, to August 27, 2015, with a brief one-time reappearance on September 28, 2015 (in a flashback sequence). Archer played the role of “bad girl” Natalie Balsom on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live on July 16, 2001. The character was revealed to be the long-lost daughter of the original character named Victoria Lord played by multiple Daytime Emmy Award winner Erika Slezak. Archer had earlier auditioned to play the role of Jennifer Rappaport and later she auditioned for Natalie, named Valerie back then.
ABC decided to cancel One Life to Live along with All My Children in the year 2011. Prospect Park tried reviving both series in a web format after their network finales, but, funding issues led to dropping of such plans. In January 2013, Prospect Park confirmed that they were trying again to revive both the shows. Eventually Archer played the role for the one-season return of the series, in a partnership with TOLN and Hulu.
In 2014, Archer played the role of Evelyn Preston in soap opera web series titled Beacon Hill. In August 2014, it was announced that Archer was cast as Serena Mason on Days of Our Lives, appearing first on December 5, 2014. In April 2015, Archer was released from the series and her last appearance was on August 27, 2015.
Archer got married to her long-time boyfriend Glenn Angelino on August 8, 2008, in Mexico. She divorced him in 2016 and is presently a resident of Los Angeles, California.
