Colleen Ballinger, the YouTuber has posted several videos of her comically talentless and quirky character, Miranda Sings since 2008 on the YouTube channel, Miranda Sings. The character is a satire of several YouTube videos who film themselves singing as a form of self-promotion. The character is supposedly a home-schooled young woman who lives with her mother and uncle.
The character in a comically off-key in the videos yet voice, plausible, and cover pop music hits. Since 2009, Ballinger performed a one-woman comedy act as Miranda Sings and in the live comedy acts, the character sings pop hits and musical theatre songs.
In 2019, a Netflix comedy special, Miranda Sings Live… Your Welcome was filmed at the Kennedy Center’s Eisenhower Theatre. She also appeared as Miranda on The Grace Helbig Show in 2015 and she also guest-starred as Miranda on the YouTube Premium series, Prank Academy.
