Born as Brooke Ashley Lyons on November 8, 1980, she is an American actress. Lyons was born in Washington DC to surgeon James R Lyons and dancer Penny A. She has Italian, Irish and Portugese origins and was raised in Fairfield and New Haven, Connecticut as well as various other towns across the state. She spent a great deal of time during her youth in dancing and horse riding.
She suffered from scollosis during her childhood and that prevented her from pursuing a career in ballet dancing. Before being diagnosed she used to study dance at the Joffrey Ballet School, the New England Ballet School in Connecticut, the Boston Ballet and she also travelled to France. She used to wear a back brace throughout her ninth grade and underwent a corrective surgery on her spine.
During her freshman year at Yale University, she founded the Connecticut Scolliosis Association and wrote a book titled Scolliosis: Ascending the Curve in which she narrated her experiences with the disease. The book was published before the start of her classes at Yale in 1990.
Lyons was tempted by acting and she received her first speaking role in a play titled Rumors. She worked in the productions of The Maids and Heartbreak House.
Starting from 2004, she also appeared in the TV series American Dreams, That’s So Raven, The Starter Wife, and Desperate Housewives. She played recurring roles in 2 Broke Girls, The Affair and Jane by Design.
In her movie career, the most noticed role until now as Amy in Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins (2008). She also appeared in films The Trap (2005), Protecting The King (2007) and Dark Reel (2008).
In the year 2014, Lyons married film producer Max Osswald. She and Osswald have a son who was born in August 2017.
