Born on 31 May, 1984, Yael Grobglas is an Israeli actress, famous for playing the roles of Petra Solano and her twin sister Anezka on The CW’s TV series Jane The Virgin. She was born in Paris. Her father Jean Pierre Grobglas comes from a French-Jewish family, and has Ashkenazi Jewish origins. Her mother Eva Rosner is from Austria and she converted to Judaism. In the year 1986, when Grobglas was only two years of age, her family moved to Israel and settled in Ra’anana city.
Right in her childhood, her performing arts talent and passion manifested it. During her teenage, Grobglas studied and also used to perform in professional dance and ballet groups. She went on to dabble in modelling for a while and participated in several runway shows as well as advertising campaigns. Ultimately, she realized that she loved acting and graduated from the Yoram Loewenstein Performing Arts Studio in Tel Aviv, Israel.
She first played a major role in three seasons of the Israeli science-fiction TV series Ha’I (The Island in English from 2007-2009). This show made her popular among the teenaged Israeli audiences. She debuted in the first ever Israeli horror movie titled Rabies which participated in theTribeca Film Festival, and various other international venues. During 2010-2011, Grobglas played various leading and supporting roles in prime time Israeli TV shows, including the sitcom Ha Shualim (The Foxes in English 2010), Ramzor (Traffic Light in English), and Hatzuya (2011). She is also famous for playing the role of “The Girl” in the interactive video of We the Kings “Say You Like Me” and as Gabi in the famous Israeli series Tanuhi (Relax in English in 2012). On 22nd February, 2013, she was announced as having been cast in the lead role in America Singer in The CW’s second pilot for The Selection although it was not picked up. In the same year, Grobglas was cast as Olivia in The CW’s Reign. Her character was of an Italian origin noblewoman who was a former lover of Prince Francis (Toby Regbo).
