Lana was born as Catherine Joy “CJ” Perry. She currently works as an American professional wrestler, professional wrestling manager, actress, dancer, model, and singer. At this moment she is signed on to professional wrestling promotion WWE and performs in Raw under the name Lana.
During her childhood Perry aspired to be a ballet dancer. She became a student of Riga Choreography School and started dancing Latvian National Ballet at the age of 14.She has also done a lot of modelling appearing in photoshoots in publications such as the RIDGID Tool Calendar and working as a spokesmodel for the energy drinks Matrix and Red Bull. She initially came to Los Angeles with the aim of going into show business.
At first she became a part of a girl group named No Means Yes consisting of Perry (billed as “C.J.”), Kat, Shea, and Tanu which got signed to Ne-Yo’s record label. Before disbanding the group produced 1 single and recorded 2 songs. Lana made her debut in NXT when she appeared as Rusev’s “social ambassador”. She used russian accent for it. Their storyline created quite a stir.
She made her exit when her partner Rusev suffered a shoulder injury. After Rusev was legitimately released from the contract Lana began a liaison with Bobby Lashley, as a part of which she publicly denounced Rusev on twitter making scathing comments against him. As far as the current storyline is concerned Lana has been asked for divorce by Lashley.
Perry was once involved with actor and former American football player Isaiah Mustafa. On July 29, 2016 she married former WWE fighter Miroslav Barnyashev, better known by his ring name Rusev.
