Amy Matysio is an incredibly talented and award winning Canadian stage and film actress, improviser, writer, producer and television host. Amy Matysio is the creator, writer, co-producer and lead star of the highly acclaimed web comedy inSAYSHAble which brought to her a seventh nomination at the Canadian Comedy Award and a “Best Actress” honor at L4 WebFest and HollyWeb (Los Angeles).
She is currently playing the role of Penny in CTVExtend Hulu’s comedy show Space Riders and can be seen on screens across Canada in an award winning indie film Lawrence and Hollowman and starring as a rifle wielding Tina Walsh in a highly talked about horror comedy WolfCop which burst into the theatres and is still playing at various locations all over the world. A much established stage actress with roles including the character of Vanda in Venus In Fur (Golden Apple Theatre), Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra (Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan) and a one woman “tour-de-force.” Matysio is presently a part of the 2014/15 National Arts Centre’s English Theatre company ensemble under the art direction of Jillian Kelley.
She has also done voice acting and given her voice to various brands like McDonalds, Astro Yogurt and Saskel. She has also created a large repertoire of voices for CBC radio programs such as Ideas, SoundXchange and This is That.
She was born and raised in Regina, Sasketchewan and is now a resident of Toronto where she loves to eat out, appear at improve comedy shows at the Comedy Bar and spends time hanging around the city with her husband and fiddle player composer Kamnel Sawitsky.
