Born on 15 March 1993, in Mumbai, India, Alia Bhatt is an Indian actress and singer who has British citizenship and works in Hindi films. Alia has received a number of honours such as three Filmfare Awards. Alia Bhatt is among the highest paid Indian actresses today. She has been on Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list since 2014 and was also featured by Forbes Asia in their 30 Under 30 list in the year 2017.
Alia was born into a film family and her father is the filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and her mother is actress Soni Razdan. After Alia debuted as a child artist in the thriller film Sangharsh (1999) and her first real leading role came in the Karan Johar’s teen drama Student of the Year (2012). She further played starring roles in a number of films made by Karan Johar’s production house Dharma Productions such as the romantic films 2 States (2014), Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya (2014), and Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya (2017) and a coming of age drama film Dear Zindagi (2016). Alia Bhatt won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of a kidnapping victim in a road drama (Highway), and two Best Actresses Awards for playing the role of a Bihari migrant in the crime drama Udta Punjab (2016) and a spy in the thriller film Raazi (2018). The gorgeous Alia Bhatt has become one of the highest earning Hindi film actresses and her highest box office earning film was the musical drama Gully Boy (2019).
Apart from her film acting, Bhatt has also launched her own line of fashion and handbags and has founded an ecological initiative CoExist. She has sung six songs from her films and one of them is the single “Samjhawan Unplugged” in 2014. Alia Bhatt regularly participates in stage shows and concert tours.
