It has only been a decade, but Dascha Polanco has already won hearts across the nation with her portrayal of Daya Diaz in the Netflix comedy-drama series, Orange Is the New Black. The story revolved around an unassuming middle-class female who gets convicted for drug smuggling. The sexy actress plays an artistic Puerto Rican inmate on the series.
Born in the Dominican Republic, Dascha Polanco and her family relocated to the United States early in her life. No one in her immediate family came from the showbiz industry, so the lovely celebrity was hesitant to try acting, especially with her weight. Instead, she followed a different career, taking up psychology in college, and worked in healthcare right after.

She has an action movie in the works, and it looks like the celebrity will appear in the much-awaited musical drama, In the Heights.
