Born on July 21, 1985 as Vanessa Lengies, she is a Canadian actress, dancer and singer. She is famous for starring in a drama American Dreams as Roxanne Bojarski. She also played the role of Charge Nurse Kelly Epson on a TNT medical drama HawthoRNe, and has also appeared in the recurring role of Sugar Motta in the third, fourth and sixth seasons of the famous Fox series Glee.
Vanessa Lengies’ father was a German man and her mother was an Egyptian lady, and while she was born in Montreal, Lengies was raised in Houston, Quebec, where she graduated from Hudson High School in 2002.
Lengies started on the Canadian television shows like Sponk!, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Radio Active and Popular Mechanics for Kids. She also lent her voice to Emily on a PBS animated series titled Arthur. In the year 2000, she played the lead role in a Showtime film Ratz.
In the year 2002, she was announced as a series regular in the NBC comedy- drama American Dreams, where she played the role of a teenager Roxanne Bojarski. The show was set in the Philadelphia of mid 1960s, and Roxanne became known as one of the dancers on the American Bandstand TV show hosted by Dick Clark. The series had a three season run and the final episode was aired in March 2005.
In August 2005, Lengies co-starred with Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear in the comedy The Perfect Man. She also played a supporting role as a jailbait hostess named Natasha in a 2005 American movie titled Waiting…, and again reprised the role in its sequel, Still Waiting…(2009). In the year 2006, she was seen in a role with Jeff Bridges and Missy Peregrym as a gymnast in the film Stick It.
She was cast in the role of Kacey, a chirpy cocktail waitress, in a sitcom Mixology. However, the series was cancelled by ABC after a single season. She was originally cast in a guest role, but, later became a main cast member on the 2016 FOX drama second Chance (previously titled Lookinglass). She came out as queer, genderfluid and bisexual on a documental series titled The ‘S’ Word with Vanessa Lengies in the year 2017.
