Brooke Monk’s content, according to her fans, is very relatable to high school students like them. This is possibly why she has become so popular on the platform in such a short period of time. In September 2019, she uploaded her first video to the platform. She mentioned having a few hundred thousand followers in the November 2019 YouTube Q&A video. By the summer of 2020, that figure will have multiplied twentyfold.

Monk believed that the key to creating popular content on a platform like TikTok was to make posts about things to which people could relate, “like little mundane things that everyone’s experienced in their life.”

She also stressed the importance of influencers listening to their audiences and being positive and uplifting on social media.

“I feel like when influencers get too big, the majority of audiences start to feel disconnected from them, and then they don’t really care about their audience anymore,” Monk said.
